Hoorai Moment — Family Journal

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Hoorai ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use Hoorai Moment (the "Service"). We understand how private family journals are, and we designed the Service with that in mind.

By using the Service, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the Service, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: your email address and basic identifying information from signing in with Google, Apple, or email.
  • Family and member information: family name, member identities and roles, and the nicknames, birthdays, and avatars you set for your kids.
  • Content you journal: text fragments, photos, videos, voice recordings, moods, and the transcripts and daily Moments generated from them.
  • Usage and technical data: basic device and usage information needed to run and improve the Service, crash/performance metrics, and necessary server logs.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

  • Providing and operating the Service: storing and displaying your entries, sharing within your family, and generating transcripts and Moments.
  • Accounts and notifications: verifying identity, sending family invitations, and delivering essential service notices.
  • Security and abuse prevention: detecting and preventing unauthorized access, abuse, and fraud, and applying rate limits.
  • Maintenance and improvement: diagnosing issues, ensuring stability and performance, and improving and developing the Service's features.

3. AI Processing

To provide transcripts and Moments, your recordings are processed by third-party AI providers for speech-to-text, and your text fragments and transcripts are processed by third-party AI providers to refine transcripts and generate daily Moments.

These AI providers process your content solely to provide those features to us and are bound by their own respective terms. We do not sell your content to any third party, and we do not use it for advertising unrelated to the Service.

4. Sharing Within Your Family

The Service works around families. Content you add within a family is visible to the other members of that family. This is core to how the Service works — invite only people you trust and who are appropriate to view this content into your family.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only: (a) with the service providers that operate our infrastructure (see the next section); (b) to comply with the law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority; and (c) where necessary to protect the rights and safety of the Service, our users, or the public.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to help operate the Service, and your data is processed by them to the extent necessary. Grouped by purpose, they fall into the following categories (the specific providers may change as our operations evolve):

  • Authentication and database: storing structured data such as accounts, families, and entries.
  • Media storage and delivery: storing and playing back photos, recordings, and videos, and data backups.
  • AI processing: speech-to-text, transcript refinement, and generating daily Moments.
  • Email delivery: sending family invitations and service-related notices.
  • Third-party sign-in: signing in with Google or Apple.
  • Web hosting and scheduled jobs.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

While you use the Service, we retain your data to provide it. Content you delete in the App first goes to a trash area and is purged after a period of time.

You can request account deletion at any time. After you request it, there is a cancellable grace period, after which we delete or de-identify your data. Backups made for disaster-recovery purposes are automatically cleared over a reasonable period as part of backup rotation.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level access controls that restrict family data to family members, and server-side safekeeping of sensitive keys.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We work hard to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is for parents and is not intended for children to register on their own. Information about children is entered by you as the parent or guardian; you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to record and share it.

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. If you believe a child's data was entered without a guardian's consent, please contact us and we will help address it.

10. Your Rights

To the extent applicable law provides, you have the right to access and correct your personal data, to request its deletion, and to withdraw consent you previously gave. You can view and edit your entries directly in the App, or request account deletion in the App; for other requests, contact us at the email at the end of this Policy. Where the law where you live provides for it, you may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

11. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data in countries or regions outside where you live. Where cross-border transfers occur, we take appropriate safeguards to a reasonable extent.

12. Cookies and Local Storage

We use necessary cookies and local storage (localStorage) to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. Your language preference is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page, and for material changes we will provide reasonable notice.

14. Contact Us

If you have any questions or requests about this Policy or how your personal data is handled, please contact us at info@hoorai.co.
